•What is the difference between latex- and oil-based paints?
Latex paints dry quickly, doncs yellow, and are extremely durable. They mix with water so they clean up with just soap and water. For most jobs, this is the best choice. Oil (alkyd) paint penetrates wood better than latex paint and offers superior adhesion and stain resistance. Doors and windows won't stick after keeping them closed all winter. Many users prefer oil-based paint for trim, kitchens, and bathrooms. Think "scrubbable". Clean up is with solvent.
Note: You cannot paint latex, which is water-based, on top of oil-based paint without extra preparation or it will flake off in time. You can paint oil-based on top of latex.
•Do I need one coat or two?
Today's paints are better than ever and have excellent coverage. Generally-speaking, one coat is enough, however, there are times when you will need a second coat. When? You'll want two coats when painting on porous surfaces, when you're covering a darker color, and on high-traffic areas. Also, blue and yellow (except for pale pastels) are hard colors to cover up with just one coat.
•What paint finish is best for my project?
Flat finishes soften a room and help to hide surface blemishes. An excellent choice for adult bedrooms, formal dining room and living room, or ceilings.
Low-sheen finishes (also known as Satin or Eggshell) are easier to clean than flat finishes. It is an ideal choice for halls, trim, children's bedrooms, and family/rec rooms.
Semi-gloss finishes are the easiest to clean and are a good choice for kitchens, bathrooms, utility areas, doors, and trim. Glosses provide a smooth and shiny appearance.
Tip: The glossier the paint, the more durable and shiny it is. The flatter the paint, the more it softens flaws and reduces the reflection of light.

We receive a high call volume if we had to do an on site evaluation for each person who inquired about a painting project we would certainly have to raise our prices. For instance we do not have to pay estimators salaries, gas costs, parking fees, Maintenance on estimators vehicles, sales commissions to salespeople and the list goes on. How does The Painters guarantee the work?
No Deposit Required! You pay at the end of the 8 hour work day once satisifed with the work that has been completed. During the work day if you see something that you are not satisfied with bring it to our crew supervisors attention and we will make sure we remedy any concern.

•What service can I expect from my painting crew?
Your 8-hour service (available for one or two days) includes professional painters. Your painters will move your furniture as needed, cover and tape all areas to be protected, prepare and sand all surfaces, paint and trim, clean up thoroughly, and complete your BONUS fix-it services as time allows. Keep in mind that providing you with a top-quality paint job is our first priority. However, we are only too happy to complete as many items from your "Fix-it" list as we can! 
•What do I have to do in order to get ready for the painters?
When we come in to paint your home we are expecting to handle everything ourselves. We move all of the furniture into the middle of the room. All furniture and belongings are carefully covered and all floors are protected with the proper drop cloths during painting. The only items we ask the customer to move are Wall hangings, drapes & small knick-knack type items. Upon completion of the painting we will place all furniture back in the location that it was removed.
 
Here's a list of comprised of answers to frequently asked questions for your convenience:
 
*We do not do on-site estimates. We rent out full-service painting crews by the shift. (Shifts are listed below)
 
*Full-Service means: not only painting, but drywall repair, sanding, wallpaper removal, priming, etc.
 
*Painters come to the job along with their equipment (brushes, roller handles, ladders, drop cloths, etc) to work an 8-hr shift.

*Materials are purchased and supplied by the customer (i.e., paint, primer, caulking, painters tape, joint compound, disposable roller covers... materials that are necessary for your job.)

 
*Amount and type of paint is best answered by the salesperson at the paint store. (We can't know how much paint is required without knowing the paint you will choose.)

*Each painter can paint approximately 375 sq ft or 2-3 small rooms during their 8-hr shift. Tasks that add extra time and not included in estimated production are: multiple coats, wall preparation work (scraping, filling nail holes or cracks, etc.) ceilings, doors, wallpaper removal, etc. Regardless whether you hire us or someone else to do your painting it should take the same amount of time and with our lower overhead costs we are able to help you save more money. We cannot guarantee that type of production but we do guarantee the quality of work will be done professionally.
 
*Painters will call to confirm the appointment before arrival approx 8:00-9:00 am. *Due to protecting our customers' privacy, we do not give out numbers for references. There are testimonials listed on our website. However, your painting service is not paid for until you are satisfied with your painting crew for the day.

Our painters are also able to do minor handyman tasks at no additional costs at the crews discretion. It's a honest day's work for a honest day's day pay. We started our painting crew for the day program after researching that many of our customers weren't getting any return calls from painting contractors willing to commit their labor force that didn't return larger dollar amounts. We focus on small jobs ranging from a couple rooms to a deck that needs to re-stained. Anything that's small that can be done in 1 day.
